It can be very fun to create an album for an elementary school teacher. There is also a good way to give photos of children without a teacher to have 25 individual photos of each school year. I found many opportunities to take photographs of elementary teachers.
Often there is a class photo taken by the company that the individual photos of children. If a class photo taken not complete, then consider taking photos of the class, either during the time on the computer during the time singing, or in a circle.
My children each have at schools different, but still the same opportunities to take pictures. Throughout the year, there were verbal reports often children did. Each had its turn for the return and the parents were invited. Ask a parent every day to take pictures of each child to make his return date. Is it safe to store your digital photos? When you consider that the vast majority of recorded images are digital today, the loss of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of images is a nightmare scenario that photographers just want to contemplate. The danger of a library Image loss is so real, however. If you take digital images, must take into account the spectrum of data loss.
In the days of movies, most people keep their negatives and slides in an old shoebox or something similar. Although this would not the best method of storing files, the fact is that negative oldest still perfectly usable, even more than half a century after have been processed. Heat, light and fungi can damage the negatives, but in most cases, shoe boxes seem ancient have done a good job of preserving the old images.
In the digital world, things are very different. What we call a digital image is just an ordered collection of zeros and ones stored on any type of digital media. There is no physical image, but it all software. If the software must encode the data bits, then the image is lost forever, unless you have a backup. What happens if your backup also fails? As I said, most of us do not want to think about this possibility.
Your backup is only as good as its storage media
Data corruption does not seem so terrible. One might think that the corruption of minors affect only a few pixels here and there. If this were the case, someone with a good knowledge of Photoshop would restore the corrupted image. This is not the case.
There are some years I had a nearly full CF card go corrupt. It worked well while I was filming, but when you insert the card into my reader, I received an "unreadable" message.
Recovery Software successfully copied pictures from the wrong card, but there was little hope that data they contain. The images are superimposed on each other, in much the same way that if you make a double exposure on a piece of film. In addition, strips of rare color images shot through corrupt. There was no hope of restoring those images. Rescue have been well beyond.
Now imagine the same scenario on a large hard disk with several terabytes of images. If the device is damaged, the number of images that could lose? You can save your files, but if the primary and backup not keep pace, where are you?
I recently scanned some negative aspects of the sixties. The negatives were more than forty years but which may be used to perfection. I have some pictures of my parents who are more than seven decades. It is still possible to make decent copies. Will we be able say that about digital?
Then digital survive as long as the movie?
I am not advocating a return to cinema and I'm not be Chicken Little and begin to wait for the sky to fall. In addition, I do not want to be complacent and sit back while my digital originals become dust both silicon. Even with a rigorous backup plan, however, the possibility that the images of silent corruption waste precious, irreplaceable.
At present, there is no perfect solution
Unfortunately, the technology has not yet come to create a solution infallible for storing digital images.
External hard drives offer many advantages as an emergency reserve. They are fast, easy to use and can easily be changed from one computer to another. Unfortunately, they are not bullet proof. In addition to being susceptible to damage, hard drives can provide a known state that corruption in silence. This means that data stored on the disc may deteriorate without notice. If the primary storage and backup deteriorate at the same speed … you have no backup.
Storage for CDs and DVDs are widely used for backup. The media may be victims of decay data "a condition that causes gradual disc to be unreadable. Even if only part data suffers from the disease, which is a small consolation, if some of your photos Favorites affected.
Tape drives may be the best solution safeguard the long term, but they are expensive and cumbersome to use. Films can also physically decomposing, when exposed to heat and humidity.
Online storage is expensive, has a transfer rate very slow and needs to be given more control over your data.
So how can store images for the future? The best bet seems to be the backup your collection of images from sources as many as possible. Enter the same image on a backup disk drive, CD, cassette and online storage service. By spreading the risk among as many sources as possible to reduce the likelihood of catastrophic destruction of the library. Keep copies of your images a different physical location to rule out major lose your collection of fire, flood or theft. Check frequently for backups that can detect any form of data corruption or putrefaction. Keep your tapes, CDs and hard disks in a cool, dark to prevent damage to the physical degradation. Make physical high-resolution prints of your images.
Even with these safeguards, there is no way to ensure that your images will last forever. There a possibility that it may still be around another forty years. If I am, I think most of my film negatives remain usable. One must ask, however. How many digital images shot today, I'll be able to access in 2049?
