We all have childhood memories that we love. Some of my best memories involve family traditions. I often do not know where or why these traditions has started we have done (like holding your breath when passing a cemetery), but they are traditions that I love you so much that I want that to happen to my own children (like ham stuffed Easter – Yes, ham … with spinach, onions and green peppers!).
Traditions Create anticipation and excitement in families, especially children. They also give a sense of stability and security. There is a feeling connection with the past to help unite families, generation after generation. Traditions are important in my family because we live through the U.S. and lead us on the miles. Call each of my four sisters, from California to Chicago every Sunday to see if your Easter ham was "hot ham ever" this year.
Even if you do not have the traditions of generations Bring your family, it is never too late to start. A simple, fast, fun and tradition is the basket of May Usual May 1 to leave a basket of Mayo friends and doorknob neighbors. A simple "basket" can be made with colored construction paper stapled into a cone shape, with a little wool or ribbon stretched through two holes drilled on top for the "handle". Choose spring flowers in your garden, or make them with construction paper on paper, silk, or coffee filters!
Not only is this a great opportunity to start a family tradition, but can also be a great way for you and your children to make new friends in the neighborhood. Make a point to you and your children to choose a neighbor of each year who have never met or know very many offer a special basket.
If you do not have the desire to create baskets of May, why not spend time with his family in garden? Start a tradition of planting and spend a few hours on May 1 planting flowers. After all, May Day began as a holiday to celebrate and the first spring planting as a reminder of the renewal of nature.
