I made paper scrapbooking for years. I thought of trying my hand at digital scrapboking because he knows a thing or three about Photoshop. A few months ago I discovered the Photomerge function in Photoshop Elements. It has always been there, I know, but I'm the kind of person who is a little slow in adopting new features.

Looking to buy Photoshop ….?

I enjoy digital scrapbooking "supplies" and I'm considering buying photoshop, I think is what everyone uses. It is here all the advice before investing your money?

If you are not intend to use Photoshop to more than, say, one or two hours per day, or even use the advanced features, then I recommend you get Photoshop Elements. Makes about 60% of what makes an interface more simple Ps, with many presets for things like digital scrapbooking and framing.

When I had my digital camera I knew zippo about the importance of the resolution and what the real difference between the position 'of good "and" best quality setting "was, except that I have more pictures in memory of the camera if I kept in "good" instead of better.

And when I downloaded the pictures on the computer that have been 72 dpi, but the 18 "wide. It's too big, I think. So I changed the size of something more sensible, but does not understand the mysteries of dpi, I left the resolution of 72 dpi. Then, compounding my ignorance, I kept up the original file. Is it from its familiar?

Then I got into digital scrapbooking and I found that 300 dpi is the standard "for scrapbooking. And when I slipped into my creations digital software (PES) automatically performs the resolution of the design file (300 dpi) and size were stamps. And if I just drag photos with my cursor to make them more degradation of the quality greatly. Aaarrrghh!

What If? Well, if you shared this experience, or if you need to convert your images and have no photos can be scanned at high resolution, this technique could be useful for you.

A digital image is made up of pixels (small cells filled with color). The more cells per inch (Known as dots per inch or pixels per inch) better the quality. When you take a digital camera, most cameras produce images of 72 dpi. They concern the question of quality increasing the size of the image. The idea is that when you upload your photo editing software that can increase or decrease dpi image size, without changing the number of cells that contains the image. (I hope this makes sense). A bit like pouring water into a wide shallow bowl in a pitcher pitch. same amount of water, but smaller, while the surface in greater depth.

Now, if you try to increase the image size by stretching, still has the same number of pixels to work with so you know the difference between pixels. The photo editor to try to fill these gaps by taking their best guess at what colors should enter.

So of course you get a better result if the differences are small and your software does not have to guess too. Hold that thought while I present the following additional technique to increase the size of their images. I use PSE4 but the principles are valid regardless of the software and should not be too difficult to translate the instructions into the control software of choice.

Step 1: Open the dialog box Image Size (Image> Resize> Image Size) uncheck the option "Back to the sample image (bottom left PSE4) and change the resolution to 300 dpi. Click OK to exit the dialog box.

Step 2: Back image Box Size dialog and re-check the Resample. Notice how the width and height are much smaller than the original image. Under top of the dialog box are the fields that indicate the number of pixels in the image size. one hundred Click the arrow at the bottom right of the field and select "Instead of" pixels ". In the Width and height on the 100 110 type that currently exists. Click OK.

Your image size will be 10%. Repeat step 2 as many times as necessary until your image is in a usable format. You will notice that each time you this operation height and width of the image is increasing. This method is slow and laborious, but it helps to minimize the degradation of quality.

You note saying: "to minimize the degradation of quality, does not prevent it. There will always be quality degradation when try to create pixels where there were none before. But this approach further allows you to gradually build up the image of a strict basis pixel instead of having their software to take a wild stab at bridging the gaps between large pixels.

Obviously you can not to continue indefinitely. You can find a cutoff point when you start to see a reduction in quality of picture you do not want to accept. This is your signal to stop and accept that it is the largest going to get this picture.

Then all you have to do is to adjust lighting and focus the image and is ready to slip into its composition.
